This is my best friends sweet little girl. Oaklynn is 6 months old and was born with a hemangioma on her temple. It has grown very rapidly in the past 6 months. After months of being mis diagnosed, she finally has an official diagnosis. Oaklynn has what is called a segmental infantile hemangioma on her eyelid, which is also on the inside of her eyelid pushing on her cornea causing vision changes. She also has multiple other hemangiomas, which are not near as concerning as the one on her eye. In order to receive specialized treatment for her condition, she has been referred to Vascular Birthmark Institute in New York City and has been given the opportunity to have surgical procedures to help with removing the hemangioma in an attempt to save and/or improve her eyesight. Without this treatment, Oaklynn is facing partial to complete loss of eyesight in her right eye along with additional medical complications. The treatment she has been receiving near home has only been a temporary fix to an ongoing problem. More extensive treatment is necessary for the particular kind of hemangioma she has.
