Hunter Dobson is our 8-year-old warrior, who has spent much of his last three years fighting for his life. He was first diagnosed at five years old, with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL), a form of childhood cancer️

After enduring chemotherapy and its harsh side effects, Hunter’s immune system has never fully recovered.

In September 2024, he was diagnosed with hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) — a rare and severe inflammatory condition where the immune system becomes dangerously overactive. Doctors have not been able to identify the initial trigger and since then, Hunter has faced two HLH flare-ups, inflammation in his brain and nervous system, and most recently, numerous nodules in both lungs.

Despite all his challenges, including being somewhat isolated & homeschooled, Hunter continues to find the strength to smile and remain the same Halloween and Minecraft-obsessed kid we all know and love.

His dedicated team of specialists have been working to piece together his complex condition but still have no official diagnosis to pin point what his body is doing. While some of his brain lesions have improved, his immune system continues to show signs of dysregulation.

The path forward for him now is trending toward a bone marrow transplant, a treatment that offers Hunter his best chance at long-term control of his disease. This transplant could potentially give him a chance at lasting remission and a future free from this painful cycle of illness and hospitalizations.

Hunter’s bravery inspires everyone who knows his story but the ongoing hospitalizations & treatments have placed ongoing stress on their family, given the lack of information for Hunter’s experience, travel to and from his doctor in NY, and unpredictability of the next few months.
