Fighting Parkinson’s, PTSD, depression, anxiety, diabetes, and poverty — Please help my family.
Hello, my name is Howard Walker, and I’m a combat-disabled veteran from Decatur, Illinois.
I proudly served my country in the Iraq War — but the hardest battles began after I came home.
Today, I live with chronic pain, Parkinson’s disease, PTSD, diabetes, anxiety, and depression. Some days, simply getting out of bed feels like a victory. I fight every day to stay strong for myself and my family — but right now, we are facing more than we can handle on our own.
**Why I’m Asking for Help**
We urgently need to raise $30,000 this week to cover several critical needs that threaten our safety and stability:
$3,900 to pay our overdue power bill so our lights and heat stay on
$25,100 for essential home repairs — including our roof, which needs to be torn off to replace the plywood and siding, along with electrical, plumbing, and other vital fixes
$3,000 in car repairs so I can safely get to VA medical appointments and pick up necessities
Basic essentials like food, water, and medication have become harder to afford each month.
My wife and I do everything we can to stay afloat. Her small income helps with groceries, and my VA disability benefits cover only part of what we need. I’ve already applied for an increase in VA benefits and SSDI, but that process takes months — and we need help right now to make ends meet.
**Your Support Can Make a Difference**
Every donation — whether it’s $10, $20, or whatever you can spare — brings us closer to stability. With your help, we can reach our $30,000 goal this week and ensure my family stays safe, warm, and hopeful during the months until we get everything fixed financially.
Your kindness will:
✅ Keep our power on and prevent disconnection
✅ Provide food and essentials for my family
✅ Repair our home and car, giving us safety and dignity
**From One Human Heart to Another**
I never imagined I’d have to ask for help like this. As a veteran, I’m used to helping others — but today, I’m on the other side.
If you can donate, share this campaign, or send a kind word, please know that your compassion gives us hope when we need it most.
Thank you for standing with us, caring, and reminding us that no one who served this country should ever have to fight alone.
With gratitude,
Howard Walker
