From Hollee Groth:
The Worst Day of My Life
In June, I decided to leave Florida and go live with my mom in Texas while I look into getting back into school and finding a new job. On August 26th, I thank God I was at my mom’s because I now consider it the day I lost everything. It was a Monday morning, and I was excited because I had an interview and later that week my state exam for my CNA. I had just finished classes the week prior. I was taking a shower and started to see black, so I got out and tried to go lay on my bed (as I’ve done before when this has happened in the past). This time, I didn’t make it to bed. I blacked out on the bathroom floor and broke my nose. When my mom heard me fall, she came in to check on me, and I couldn’t move my arms or legs at all. The ambulance came and took me to the ER. They did scans and testing, and after 7 hours, sent me home with no answers! I couldn’t even walk or stand on my own (that’s a whole different issue). They gave me a neurosurgeon to follow up with, which we did a few days later. When I went to the neurosurgeon because I was still so weak, I couldn’t move my left hand at all (my dominant hand). They had me go to a different ER to be admitted. I was admitted to the hospital on August 29th. I had an MRI of my spine where they determined I needed surgery. I didn’t have the surgery until September 5th. Still waiting for further testing, I wasn’t discharged until September 10th. On top of that, with my recent move, I haven’t been able to get medical insurance yet. I have applied for Medicaid and disability. Now, after my surgery, I have to wear a neck brace for the next 3 months and can soon start physical therapy, while still needing to follow up with doctors to determine why I’m even blacking out in the first place. I cannot work in the meantime, and physically I can’t (I wish I could). Along with other tests and doctors, I’m following up with to determine the reasoning for me blacking out. I thank God every day I have my mom to literally do EVERYTHING. I have lost my ability for now to shower or even change my clothes alone. I am doing better each day but still in a lot of pain. Please help in any way you can, I will forever be appreciative.
