My dear friend Heather has not had an easy road. She was diagnosed with epilepsy years ago along with leukemia, which has been kept under control and in remission. But now, in August, she had news that she had breast cancer. She just had surgery for a double mastectomy, and now doctors have stated it is traveling within her lymph nodes. She will definitely need radiation and in the future, if she chooses, possibly chemo as well. Heather and I met almost 11 years ago when I started my job, and we became instant friends. Her welcoming personality and kindness are infectious. When I first became friends with her, she was in her late 30s and had lost her mother. Years later, I lost my father, and we have been there for one another through those hard times. Time has gone by, and we have shared many laughs and tears.

Being friends through this very hard time for her, I would love nothing more than to help ease a little bit of the burden for her and her family with medical expenses. She is currently out of work for the next several months due to surgery with the mastectomy, and then after that, she will need 3 weeks of radiation, 5 days a week. That's not including any other doctor's visits. I want to thank everybody for taking the time to read the story, and any help that you can give would be greatly appreciated in helping my dear friend.
