Aid Hajek Family: Funeral & Emergency Costs
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and those with the ability to help in a time of need,
On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, my dad, Miloslav T. Hajek, passed away suddenly of a heart attack while finishing dinner with my mother, Daniela Hajek. My brother (Milo) and I (Tomas) are starting this campaign to help pay for the cost of emergency services and funeral cremation to help support my mother in this devastating time.
My dad had come back from so many injuries over the years, from broken bones, severed tendons in his hand, and countless other minor scrapes, that he seemed like he would make it through anything. He worked his whole life to provide for his family and instilled in us that you had to work hard to get anything. From escaping from communist Czechoslovakia in 1979 with a wife and two children under 5 years old and only $200, to having to rebuild our family home after a house fire, and then to start again after moving to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to be able to retire and go fishing on Lake Michigan. He bought a nice boat but hardly ever made it on the water as he was always trying to make ends meet.
Always one to look for a bargain and to make do with what we had, I remember him saying that when he died, to just put him in a box and bury him in the backyard next to the dog. With that plan in his mind, I don't think he really considered the practicality of that idea and the cost of a funeral. He certainly did not think that he would leave his family with a bill that he hadn't planned for.
He did not want any prolonged medical treatments and would not have lasted in a hospital, so we are grateful that it happened quickly and with minimal suffering. I will miss his stories about Czechoslovakia and the advice he would give whether asked for or not. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to so many around the world.
If you have the ability to help ease the financial burden for the unexpected expenses of emergency services and cremation costs, we would be extremely grateful. Thank you in advance.
