Hello! I'm Greg Burrow, the PR and Facilities manager at Dragon's Lair Comics & Fantasy Austin. I am also a cosplayer (GBCosplay on Facebook) and co founder of the super-hero "Causeplay" group Heroes of Texas (Also on Facebook) that dresses up as heroes to go to Children's Hospitals and do charity / community service events. I mainly dress up as 1966 Adam West Batman, Captain America, Captain Marvel (Shazam) and Cyclops from the X-Men. I'm also ID3459 with the 501st Legion Star Wars Costuming Group, one of the founding members of Ghostbusters ATX which is now Austin Ghostbusters, and many many others.
For over 2 years I've had issues with my left nostril. I've gone to a doctor who prescribed me anti-biotics, and nose sprays. Nothing helped. So he sent me to an ENT, (Dr. Meigs) who within 5 minutes found growths and took biopsies. That was December 16th, 2024.
As you can imagine, once those biopsies came back cancerous, I have had a LOT of expensive imaging, and Doctor Appointments. I DO have insurance, which I pay over $600 a month for. It was gotten through the Marketplace. So without govenment assistance, it would be over $1200 for the insurance I have. I have already reached the deductible in January. But as it stands... They aren't paying for everything. Just last night I had to pay $6,256.74 for the surgery. I also had to pay the ENT who is doing the surgery, with the understanding I still have to pay the Anesthesiologist, Neurosurgeon, and other attending physicians at the surgery. I have so far paid over $12,000 out of pocket. That isn't including the $600+ a month I pay for health insurance. I've had 3 MRIs, 2 CT scans, 1 PET scan, and it keeps going. Any assistance would be very appreciated!
Surgery is April 3rd at Seton Main in Austin, Texas. I will be there with my Mom and my Uncle, and Marilyn Richmond who is the HR manager at Dragon's Lair and my friend. I will be giving her a phone list to text people to let them know how the surgery goes. If you wish to be on that list, please let me know. Thank you! Life is an Adventure. I will get through this. You have to have bad times to appreciate the good times when they come. Take care!
