My name is Gina Workman, and I am reaching out to family, friends, and the community for help. On March 31st, my 4 kids (plus a friend), doggo, and I were home celebrating the first day of Spring Break. At approximately 3 pm, an electrical fire broke out in one of the boys' bedrooms. Quick thinking from the triplets enabled everyone to escape safely and contact 911; however, the damage was substantial, and our home was no longer fit to reside in. For the past 2 and a half months, we have been living out of a hotel while waiting for insurance. Unfortunately, insurance has been trickier. Since I never added my name to the house or insurance when Ray passed away last year, there are about 50 more hoops to jump through, which has delayed the processing of the claim, plus the added fear of probate.
I am in the process of transitioning into a new career, and we have found a rental we can move into mid-August. We have been finding ways to make it work, but it's become exhausting and overwhelming. We are slowly exhausting resources, and unfortunately, there are not a lot of resources available to us.
This last year has been earth-shattering for our family. From losing our rock, my husband, the kids' father, last July 4th to an excruciating battle with cancer, then losing our home and essentially everything in it... these kids have shown strength, resolution, and stayed humble in a way that breaks my heart with pride and sadness. I am humbly asking for help. The costs of living in a hotel for another 6 weeks, groceries, gas, and essentials for the kids are our biggest needs right now.
Asking for help has always been difficult for me, but if you are able, I hope you will consider helping our family out as we attempt to rebuild our lives.
