My name is Laura from Washington, DC, and I created this page for Ghada, a widow with three young sons, and her fiancé Abdul. Ghada’s beloved husband was killed in November 2023 while out getting food for his family. Since then, Ghada and her sons Suleiman, age 7, Zareef, age 5, and Omar, age 2, have been displaced multiple times. For over a year and a half, she has struggled to take care of her sons as a single mother under harrowing conditions. Now, she has found a partner with whom she hopes to rebuild a future. Though he will never replace what they lost, her sons are thrilled to have a new father. But all of them face starvation and other dangers.
