Aid Georgie's Journey to Healing

Update on 1/23 Georgie is home with what looks like fake Halloween vampire teeth. She now has a temporary device made of wire and epoxy holding her jaw in place for the next 6-8 weeks. She is eating mushy food and is taking a doggy Xanax to keep her calm. Double root canal coming up next.
To all that know me, I go by the nickname Oz, but my real name is John. I guess I will start with a brief backstory about Georgie the Bluetick. Many moons ago, our family lost our beloved coonhound named Velcro after a long and brave struggle with Lyme Disease. She was our world and left a big hole in all our hearts that seemed impossible to fill. Fast forward to a few months later, and Georgie, a 1-year-old Bluetick with a similar story, popped up on our radar. Found roaming rural Virginia alone and weighing a scant 30 pounds, she showed the scars of a true fighter trying to survive. When we first met her through the foster at Northeast Coonhound Rescue, she ran out and basically chose us with a huge howl and endless face rubs and kisses. For the past four years, she has no doubt been our world. She has never failed to bring a smile and is love personified with floppy ears and a deep, beautiful voice. She is our couch buddy, dropped food collector, protector against squirrels, and a nightly body pillow. She rules and does an amazing job, but most importantly, she is family.
I never in a thousand years would imagine myself creating a crowdfunding request, but here I am. Stressing over what seems to be an insurmountable stack of unexpected bills lately, a family member suggested I give this a shot. I have donated to crowd funding opportunities before and I truly believe that it is an amazing way to help someone out. I have contributed to several request before and believe in the good that even the most minimal charitable contributions can do. A few bucks by a few more people can make a huge impact in someone’s life.
Georgie was involved in what would be described as a one-in-a-million accident that resulted in a quick trip to the VCA emergency vet. There it was discovered upon examination and subsequent X-rays that she broke her lower jawbone. Requiring immediate attention, she was referred to Tufts University Animal Hospital up in Massachusetts. She is currently there awaiting surgery to repair her jawbone and get her back on the road to recovery.
After a brutal past few months of bills for a major vehicle repair and personal medical bills, I am now faced with over $11,000 in veterinarian bills for Georgie. The surgery alone is estimated at between $8-10k with multiple follow-ups. Regardless of whether or not this fundraiser makes a dime, she will receive the treatment. I refuse to let her down even if I have to go broke. Failing her in a time of need is not an option. If anybody out there feels like helping out and being charitable, myself and Georgie appreciate it immensely from the bottom of our hearts. If we run across you at some point, Georgie promises you face rubs and kisses. Any and all donations would be welcome, even if it just helps the cost of travel, gas, and tolls back and forth to the hospital. If we reach our goal and go over, any remaining balance will go to Northeast Coonhound Rescue as a donation in order to help other dogs and families make a beautiful life together.
If you can’t help out, which is understandable, please feel free to reach out and just say “Hello.” We need some positive vibes right now.
Thank you all for reading our story, and you are truly appreciated. We love you - Georgie and Oz
