Aid Gavin's Healing and Return to Work

I'm a grandmother. Gavin has spent a good portion of his life with me or living close to me. Each encounter with him is a treasured moment, for his smile is the sunshine that lights the day.

On June 21st, my beloved 20-year-old grandson was hit from behind whilst on his way home.

To date, he has had 4 surgeries on his foot and hand. He has pins in his ankle, casts on both legs, and will be confined to a wheelchair for several months. He has had two microsurgeries: the first to reattach his finger and the vessels in his hand, and the second to place a pin in his other finger and to reattach vessels, nerves, and tendons.

He suffered additional breaks and fractures and will have a long road ahead healing, then months of physical therapy whilst he learns to walk and use his hand again.

Gavin works full-time as a plumbing apprentice and goes to college at night. He has worked since he was 15 years old and is motivated. The doctors have warned him that it will be many months before working is once again possible.

Although Gavin has medical insurance, the loss of earnings, deductibles, extensive medical bills, and home help not covered by insurance are overwhelming.

Any help to get this young man back on his feet and on the job would be much appreciated.
