Gary's Fight Against Skin Cancer - He Needs Our Help!
Donation protected
On February 17, 2025, my dad, Gary Richie, underwent surgery to remove a large area of squamous cell carcinoma (skin cancer) from his ankle. He will need another surgery soon for a skin graft—possibly two, if doctors finds more cancer. His doctor has given him strict orders: he cannot work for up to six weeks due to the risk of complications, including the possibility of losing his foot if his recovery doesn’t go well.
When my dad learned he’d have to take six weeks off work during pre-op, he tried to cancel the surgery, worried about how he would pay his bills. But his doctor warned him that if the cancer spreads too deeply, he could lose his foot. So, despite his concerns, he went through with the surgery.
Now, he faces a difficult road ahead. He only has 38 hours of PTO saved and lives paycheck to paycheck. On top of missing work, he’s also dealing with mounting medical bills. He simply doesn’t know how he’s going to make ends meet.
If you know my dad, you know he’s a hard worker. At 67 years old, he has been working since he was nine years old. He never asks for help—he’s the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to a stranger. But right now, he needs help.
We know times are tough for everyone, and any support—whether through a donation, a share, or a prayer—means the world to us. Every little bit helps. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you for supporting my dad during this difficult time.
