Help Gabriel get to Musical Residency in Oaxaca, MX

Donation protected

Hello, my name is Gabriel and I am an artist, musician, and producer from El Paso, TX. I have been making music for almost 20 years in various forms and phases throughout my life.

Little back-story: I left my job of 10 years in 2017 as an electrical engineer (12 hour days, six-digit income, 0-digit-soul-excitement) to become self-employed as a licensed massage therapist so that it might create the space and time to make more music, as it has always seemed to be my main squeeze.

It's been 8 years now since I jumped ship and started a soul led business called Desert Sol Massage & Bodywork where I help members of my community free up space in their 'body homes'. The service I offer at Desert Sol is deep and honest work, requires a lot of me and I am grateful I get to serve my community with everything I have and have learned about mySelf.

In the early years of this journey, my music studio became a storage closet and completely inaccessible. I had to completely start over and was taken over with having to learn Life Basics 101: ‘How to Become Whole’, while exploring the topic of my thesis: 'What’s My Purpose Here and How Can I Best Fulfill It?'.

Here I Am Now: I've grown (what feels like) lifetimes as a person since I began and feel like I've emerged from the belly of the whale and now have some proper stories to tell. In the most recent years the studio has come back together and I started creating music again. With that, a growing but steady pressure to express and share this music is coming through and is now asking to be expressed in a way worthy of the depth of it's story.

Late last year I decided to honor this inner pulse and vowed to take a deeper step into this artist journey. Upon making this decision an opportunity came to me in the form of a 20-day artist residency called the Warm Hum in Oaxaca, MX. This residency is in full alignment with my principles as a human being and feels like just the place, space & environment I need to grow as a musician, singer, song-writer, producer and performer.

My intentions at this residency are to learn, to grow, to be challenged, to be humbled, to create lasting collaborative connections with like-minded artists and to be greatly inspired by my fellow humans & teachers who are living the path and have also made the decision to go all in. I want to know what that feels like.. to live out/in the dream and to know that I followed and answered the pulse inside me.

It is one of my great desires to elevate the culture in my hometown of El Paso, TX. One of the ways in which i attempt to do so is by co-creating inspired community events such as Soul Jam which are rich, colorful & safe environments for us/all people to come together and grow into the best versions of ourselves; I wish to continue bringing down & into our city such musical inspiration, however I cannot do this alone and without your help!

If you resonate with this story, please help me to fulfill this path to residency and consider donating!

I recently recorded a song in preparation for the residency that tells about the process of becoming whole and i’d like to share it with you here:

I am one of 10 applicants to have been chosen to be part of this residency. Your generous donation will help to fund the 20 day residency ($3500 which includes food and lodging), my flights ($500 round-trip) and will also help to cover my loss of income at home while I am gone ($1500).

Regarding any funds that exceed the goal, I vow to use them to finish recording, mixing and mastering my debut album.

Thank you so much familia.
This music I make is for you!
