It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Tanita Watkins, a devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunty, cousin, and friend, who tragically lost her life due to complications from brain surgery on top of other illnesses. Tanita’s sudden departure has left a tremendous void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. The family is left to pay for funeral expenses as life insurance was not an option with her longterm illnesses.

She leaves behind her 13-year-old and 26 yr old daughters, Kaliyah Watkins and Cierra Hornsby, who now faces life without their mother’s love, guidance, and support. In the wake of this tragedy, Tanita’s 26-year-old daughter has stepped forward to become Kaliyah’s primary caregiver, making incredible personal sacrifices to ensure that Kaliyah is surrounded by love, stability, and safety.

This fundraiser has been created to help support Kaliyah’s future and ease the financial burdens now faced by her sister and new guardian. Funds raised will go towards:

    •    Funeral cost as she desired above the ground burial

•    Legal fees and guardianship-related cost

    •    Housing, food, and daily living expenses to assist Cierra who was the primary caregiver therefore unable to work as she cared for their mom

    •    Counseling and emotional support for Kaliyah and her older sister

• Kaliyah’s educational needs and school supplies

    •    Any unexpected expenses during this major life transition

Tanita always worked hard to provide for her daughters and raised them with strength and compassion. We now ask for your help to honor her legacy and ensure Kaliyah and Cierra is well cared for during this incredibly difficult time.
