Aid for Victoria's Hospital Stay and Recovery

My name is Veronica Chavez (Garcia), and I am one of Victoria Garcia’s younger sisters and sister-in-law to Gonzo Villarreal. They have a beautiful, blended family with five daughters, and they are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their newest addition.

However, life has taken an unexpected and difficult turn. On Saturday, February 1, at 31 weeks pregnant, Victoria was urgently flown to Houston. At 20 weeks, she was diagnosed with a complete placenta previa, meaning her placenta is covering her entire cervix. Since then, she has faced ongoing bleeding, and after being referred to Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM), she was diagnosed with a much more severe and life-threatening condition. This condition will likely result in a cesarean hysterectomy. The diagnosis is Placenta Accreta Spectrum (PAS), a rare and serious condition where the placenta grows too deeply into the uterine wall and can even invade surrounding organs. Last week, her MRI confirmed the most severe form of this condition, Placenta Percreta, it is in fact invading her bladder. Because of its propensity for severe hemorrhage, it is a potentially life-threatening condition.

As of today, February 3, Victoria will be staying in Houston at Memorial Hermann Hospital, away from her family, until doctors decide the best time to deliver the baby. While this is her last pregnancy, she is doing her best to remain strong and calm, but the fear and uncertainty of what lies ahead is overwhelming.

Victoria and Gonzo work hard to provide for their family, but with Victoria now unable to work, Gonzo will be left to manage everything at home—taking care of their daughters, bills, and keeping the household running—on a single income. Victoria is expected to be out of work for at least three months, and the financial burden is growing every day.

With medical bills, the cost of parking, food, and other expenses related to her extended stay, I’m asking for help from our family and friends during this incredibly challenging time. Whether it’s a donation or even something as simple as used baby clothes, baby items, or post-surgery essentials, anything will help ease the burden and allow them to focus on what matters most—Victoria’s health and the safe delivery of their baby.
