I am reaching out to share the story of a Moroccan family I know personally, a family I’ve spent time with and grown close to during my stay in Morocco.
This year, the twin sisters of my close friend achieved something truly extraordinary: they both earned a full scholarship to one of the best engineering preparatory schools in the country — CPGE, Lycée d’Excellence Mohamed VI in Ben Guerir. This opportunity has the power to transform their future.
But just as this door opened, tragedy struck. Their father suffered from severe heart failure, followed by a stroke, which he is still recovering from.
Overnight, all the savings their brother had put aside to help them prepare for this new journey had to be used for urgent medical expenses.
Now, with the school schedule due (the school year begins September 8) and the start fast approaching, the twins urgently need school supplies and support for living away from home. Their new school is not in their hometown of Salé — it’s in Ben Guerir, several hours away, about 350 km (217 miles). The move makes this transition even harder.
This family has always carried themselves with dignity, but today, they cannot do this alone. With your support, we can help cover what the scholarship does not — the supplies and essentials that will allow these bright young women to step confidently into their future.
Every contribution, no matter the size, will directly help them start this school year prepared. Please consider donating today to give them the chance they’ve worked so hard for.
P.S I didn't put any pictures of twins to protect their privacy. Instead I'm sharing a photo of Jamal and another friend when we were graciously invited to a family member's wedding.
