Hello friends and family. My name is Norma Schwiderson and I am a friend of Traci and Dennis Demijohn (I have their permission to start this go fund me). As most of you are aware, Hurrican Helene produced record breaking storm surge along the regions of Florida's Gulf Coast. Traci and Dennis Demijohn bought a home in New Port Richey, Florida last fall. They soon learned that Florida insurance companies out priced many people, including themselves, to where is was not feasible to purchase home owners insurance. Traci and Dennis suffered home damage last September from Hurrican Ian. Last nights storm surge from Helene caused even more damage. They had over a foot of water inside their home. While FEMA has declared their subdivision a disaster area and will help many of the people in their community, they most likely will not help the Demijohn's due to their home not being registered as their primary residence. Even though Traci and Dennis spend most of their time there, they are still considered Michigan residents. Most everything in the home, including the air conditioner, flooring, wall board, insulation, appliances, furniture and personal items will need to be replaced. Any amount of money would be appreciated and would help them to get their home back to livable condition.
