I had the honor and privilege of meeting Thysan a few years ago while he is on staff at Place of Promise, a Christ centered addiction and recovery program in Lowell, MA. It becomes immediately apparent that Thysan cares for others with the love of Jesus Christ, often giving them everything he can and in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Thysan has helped hundreds of men and women who have suffered from the bondage of sin and addiction.
Tragically Thysan's brother in law and his sister were recently in a motor bike accident in Cambodia, where his brother in law was killed and his sister was serious hurt. The funeral expenses and medical bill quickly mounted and Thysan began supporting the costs from thousands of miles away.
We are raising money to come to the aid of our brother in Christ, Thysan, and if you can come beside our brother at this time of need, I can't thank you enough.
More about Thysan:
Dr. Thysan Sam, MDiv, DMin, Residential Program
Thysan joined Place of Promise in 2016 and serves on the Residential Staff.
Growing up in a Buddhist family during the brutal civil war in Cambodia, Thysan survived 4 years in a Khmer Rouge slave labor camp. Thysan then spent the next 10 years in a refugee camp where he encountered Jesus Christ and dedicated his life to serving Him. Resettled to the United States, Thysan worked as a Social Worker for the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families for 12 years.
Thysan holds an MDiv and PhD from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. His thesis focused on the impact of prolonged psychological trauma, the transmission of trauma from first to second generation, and the four essential elements of healing. Additionally, Thysan is a Pastor at the Eliot Presbyterian Church in Lowell.
