Aid for those affected in Almaty, Kazakhstan
On January 2nd Kazakhstan has erupted into violence. Uncontrolled looting, rioting and crime is affecting the country. This was sparked by protests caused by the outrage due the rise of gas prices, since the government switched to a tariff based pricing model. As a result this has sparked a public show of distrust in the government that was trusted to rule Kazakhstan for 20+ years. While this was a time for change, a lot of major cities descended into chaos, such as Almaty. Where looting, shooting and crime is rampant. On January 5th, the protestors took over control of the Almaty Airport, which the government has since regained by force. With the previous leader, Nursultan Nazarbayev, who led Kazakhstan since 1990, has now been ousted by his people and has since reportedly fled to Kyrgyzstan. The riots in Kazakhstan can be linked to the rise of gas prices, but this is mostly a show of distrust towards Nursultan Nazarbayev who during his reign, would often fail to support his people and deliver on promises made years ago. The current president, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, (assumed June 12th 2019)sacked his whole Kazakh cabinet, and since has been trying to keep the situation in control but at parts the violence and chaos boils over, to the point where a Joint Task Force was created by Russia, Belarus and Kyrgystan to help curb the violence. I have first witness accounts on ground that speak to the destruction of the city and the total chaos it has fallen under, and being born in Kazakhstan myself, my heart goes out to my fellow Kazakhs
I created this GoFundMe campaign to help aid the victims of violence in Almaty, Kazakhstan. . The city that was affected the worst by the violence. I ask you not to donate to Red Cross or UN/UNESCO/NATO, as those funds don't get distributed evenly in areas like Kazakhstan.
100% of the proceeds will go to the follow charities/non-for profits/NGO's (broken down in equal parts):
