Our family is facing an incredibly difficult and uncertain journey, and we are reaching out to our community, friends, and kind-hearted strangers for support.
Earlier this year, my wife Joyce and I discovered we are expecting our third child, Tobias. What should have been a joyful occasion quickly became clouded with apprehension when early blood tests indicated serious concerns for our baby’s health—potential chromosomal abnormalities such as Trisomy 13, 18, or triploidy syndrome, alongside other possible syndromes threatening Tobias’ development, survival, and well-being. Tragically, Tobias’ twin miscarried during the first trimester of the pregnancy, confirming our speculations. This resulted in the extra hormones and chromosomes that were discovered during the blood test. Tobias himself has continued to sustain dilated brain ventricles, leading to concerns of Ventriculomegaly.
After a distressing experience with local medical providers who recommended immediate "termination of the fetus" while having the inability to offer specialized care within the state of Montana, we terminated care from the local OBGYN instead and took matters into our own hands. We sought a second opinion in a different city with a compassionate OBGYN and midwife advocate in Montana. Thanks to his care, we learned that some initial ultrasound findings were inaccurate, and there is now hope that Tobias can be born safely despite his ongoing complications of Ventriculomegaly.
Due to Montana’s laws and Tobias’ condition, Joyce must deliver in a hospital with a specialized team on call, which means we will be away from our ranch for up to three weeks around his birth. This presents significant logistical challenges, including caring for our property, managing daily necessities, receiving mail, watering, feeding livestock, and covering both travel and living expenses during this critical time.
Both Joyce and I are disabled veterans. Because of these unforeseen circumstances, I have had to eliminate my subcontracting business, increase my online GI Bill schooling from 12 to 18 credit hours in pursuit of a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, which has helped me stay home as much as possible to care for my wife and our two daughters, Esther Grace and Abigail Faith.
We humbly ask for your financial assistance and prayers to help us cover these costs:
- Travel and accommodation costs for out-of-town medical appointments while Joyce using the hospital for Tobias’ birth
- Hiring support to manage our ranch and household during our absence
- Midwife, Doula, or other unknown medical expenses not fully covered by our VA insurance
- Daily living expenses, and helping us keep up with our bills while we're away from home
Please LIKE, SHARE, and most importantly, pray to the Triune God of the universe for our family’s overall well-being, Tobias’ continued positive development, and for relief from the stress of this temporary storm as we approach the finish line.
Thank you for reading and standing with us during this trying season!
With deep gratitude,
Levi, Joyce, Esther Grace, Abigail Faith, and Tobias Christopher
