For the love of Swim!

Hi, my name is Sue and my husband is Jeff. We are the proud parents of Swim who is our beautiful special needs dog.

We foster litters of puppies for a local dog rescue (Ca Labs and More) and one of those litters were the Pool pups. The litter of 12 were found out in the desert by a hiker who then took them to the Riverside Shelter where Labs and More rescued them. We took half of the litter who contracted Parvo at the shelter and had to be isolated and cared for. One of those puppies in the litter is named Swim and he had the worst case of Parvo and barely survived.

Swim is now 3 ½ years old and is a sweet boy who also had the misfortune of contracting some kind of virus in the desert which led to his brain being malformed. His left side is only partially formed and the neurosurgeon said he will forever be a 10 week old puppy is his own mind even when fully grown. This malformation causes him to have seizures regularly and needs to have 20 pills a day to keep them in check. In check means instead of multi times a day seizure he has them about twice a week but sometimes goes weeks without a major one. He does have minor episodes which the neurosurgeon says is related to his brain daily but not full blown seizures.

We have nurtured and cared for him as a foster but medical fosters are hard to adopt out. We were so happy to adopt Swim from the rescue and made him part of our pack but with that we also took on his medical expenses. His medical is ~$250 a month for his meds and $500/yr for his blood work. Recently, Swim tore his ACL while playing and needs surgery costing between $5,000 and $8,000. We sadly do not have the money to cover that and if you could possibly help we would be so grateful. Any amount would help us reach out goal and get our boy feeling better. Thank you so much!
