Hi, my name is Sue and I'm a survivor of the July 4th weekend floods in Central Texas. My mom, Barbara, has lived in and owned her own beautiful home in Leander, Texas, for many years. It was the source of pride and accomplishment, as well as many happy memories for our family.

But in the early morning on the day of the flood, we woke up to our neighbor banging on the door, saying that parts of the house were literally being ripped off by the floodwaters. And then we discovered our vehicle had floated away, smashing into another car. We ended up having to be rescued with heavy equipment across a bridge through the rushing water, and I'm grateful to be okay.

FEMA deemed my mother's home uninhabitable—filled with black mold—and now she can never move back in, though she doesn't understand this. She doesn't understand because she has dementia, so she just has moments of agitation and frustration because she just wants to go home and doesn't remember that we can never go home again. It's heartbreaking.

The funds raised will be used to help replace her home, furniture, and our household goods, clothing, and personal possessions. Thank you for any help you give.
