Aid for Stabbing Attack Victim to Stay Afloat While Healing

I'm creating this GoFundMe as a friend of the victim of a violent crime, who needs help raising money to support her medical and trauma care. Here's her story:

"In the interest of protecting my identity, as this involves a criminal case, I am staying anonymous. (The above name is an alias.) I am a 30-something woman from Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Last year I was the victim of a very violent attack. My attackers lured me to a secluded area, forced me into their car at knife point, beat me unconscious, bound my feet, stabbed me 13 times, and ran me over with their car. Their plan was to steal my debit card pin and leave me dead on the side of the road.

But I survived. I staggered through the woods, for a quarter of a mile, without my shoes, until I was able to find help. I needed 2 blood transfusions and emergency surgery from all the injuries.

As you can imagine, this has left me with extensive trauma, PTSD, and medical debt. I am thankful to be alive, but the recovery is very slow. I have not been able to walk around outside since the attack. I recently had to face one of my attackers in court and relive this trauma. The other assailant is still awaiting trial, where I will have to testify and face my attacker again.

I tried to return to work, but the pain was too great. I just got out of inpatient trauma treatment, and I need 3 months to focus on therapy and healing to build a strong foundation to recover and heal. I am exploring all avenues to get financial assistance to help me during this time. Unfortunately, all state and federal funds and grants take six months to a year to be approved. Currently, I need to raise at least $4000 to cover the cost of living for 3 months. In addition, I owe up to $16,700 in medical bills.
