This is what I woke up to last Sunday at 3:17 am. My son had a horrible accident. He has sustained several injuries: broken wrist, broken scapula, 5 compression fractures, fluid on his lungs, and internal bruising. He is learning how to do all the basic everyday functions again.

My insurance deductible is $5,000.00. Our rent is $2,400.00, not including utilities. My employer does not offer short-term disability pay of any type. FMLA is unpaid. I have went to a food pantry and am doing everything I can to cut costs. Deleted Spotify and Amazon. What else can I do?

The doctors have said he will need my care until 12/14/2025. I have taken Family Medical Leave Act to care for him. It is unpaid. My dad died on March 24, 2025. My grandma, who was more like a mom, died June 23, 2025. This has been the hardest year of our lives.

This is going to be a long medical journey. Once he is released from the hospital, he will have physical therapy and additional appointments. We are grateful for anything. We graciously ask for your help during this tumultuous season of our lives.
