A Heartfelt Plea: Help Rebuild What the Fire Took

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

I come to you today with a heavy heart and an urgent plea for help on behalf of my best friend Krishunna Smith and her husband Rev. Darrell Smith, who have just experienced an unimaginable tragedy. Due to a devastating gas leak, their home was completely destroyed by fire. They lost everything—their clothes, their personal belongings, their memories… their entire life’s work went up in flames.

By the grace of God, they are safe. They’re currently in a hotel room provided by some compassionate friends, but beyond that, they are starting from absolute ground zero. No finances. No clothes. No home. No stability. Just faith.

But let me tell you—this is no ordinary couple.

Rev. Darrell has spent his life pouring into the lives of others. Through the ministry of Victory Outreach Dallas and beyond, he has been a lifeline to children, teens, and families in need. Whether collecting donations for school supplies, organizing summer programs to keep kids safe and out of trouble, or personally delivering Christmas gifts to ensure no child is forgotten—he has always showed up.

On any given Friday, you could find him in the streets of Dallas, feeding the hungry and spreading the love of Jesus. And always right by his side? His wife, Krishunna—a powerhouse of healing and hope. Delivered from addiction over 25 years ago, she turned her pain into purpose, offering free support to hundreds of women dealing with trauma, abuse, and deep emotional wounds. She teaches them how to forgive, how to heal, and how to find freedom through Christ.

Now, they’re the ones in need.

They’ve been faithful. They’ve served others. They’ve given everything they had—even when they didn’t have much. Today, I’m asking if you’d join me in giving back to them.

They have a 4-year-old daughter—their adopted blessing since birth—who is starting preschool soon and needs supplies, clothes, and stability. The hotel they’re staying in is temporary, and their next steps are uncertain. But one thing remains sure: they have the faith of a mustard seed, and they know that God is still with them.
