Aid for SFC Rhone's Hospice Journey

I want to take a moment to honor Sergeant First Class Rhone, an incredible individual and a true warrior. With 19 years of dedicated service, she has been more than just a Platoon Sergeant to me; she has been a mentor and an inspiration. A couple of years ago, SFC Rhone was diagnosed with cancer, yet her resilience has been nothing short of remarkable. She embodies the warrior ethos that many of us aspire to uphold in the Army.

Throughout her battle, she consistently put the mission first, donning her uniform and boots, even when faced with significant pain.

Her refusal to accept defeat has been evident, even as doctors expressed doubts about her ability to continue serving. She pressed on undeterred.

Even after beating cancer, when it returned, she continued to fight with unwavering determination, proving that her spirit is unbreakable.

No matter her struggle, she always prioritized the well-being of her soldiers, never leaving a comrade behind. Her compassion and commitment to those she led are qualities we should all strive to emulate.

Now, as she faces the challenge of being in hospice care, SFC Rhone still exhibits incredible strength. Her mother has come from Texas to support her during these difficult times, ensuring that her daughter feels loved and cared for in her final days. To help ease the burden on her family, we’ve set up a fundraiser to assist with the costs of her care and to facilitate her mother's move back to Texas after Sergeant First Class Rhone completes her journey and reports to her final duty station.

This brave woman has dedicated nearly two decades to our country, her community, and most importantly, to the soldiers she has led.

As Memorial Day approaches, let us come together to support her family, allowing them to cherish the time they have left with this extraordinary soldier. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

From your second in command, we’ll miss you deeply, boss lady. We promise to carry on in your honor.
