My name is Lindsay Rullo. I am raising money to help my family with the funeral expenses for my niece, Selena Ventura.
My family and I are devastated. This loss was completely sudden and unexpected. Selena passed away in her sleep during the early morning hours of July 15th, 2025. The heartbreak and devastation my family and I are feeling is unimaginable. Selena was only 24 years old and had two beautiful daughters. We never could have imagined losing her or another family member at any time soon. Our family is unfortunately all too familiar with this.
Over the past five years, we have faced so much loss of our immediate family, it's unheard of. The financial impact of having to pay for the expenses related to burying our loved ones has left us unable to afford another funeral. We never imagined we would be mourning again so soon.
No one should have to bury a grandchild, and unfortunately for my father, this will be his second one. He just buried his two-year-old granddaughter, and that was beyond heartbreaking. It left us all, including Selena, shattered. We have still not received any type of closure. We are still fighting for justice (#justiceforcenyla). Selena has unfortunately gone too soon and will not be here physically for it, but she will be in spirit.
My father has also already had to bury three of his children. This has left us all emotionally raw and still actively grieving, never being able to heal from one loss. Selena included. Sadly She lost her mother a few years ago.
Life is never for certain, but the love of our family is.
Selena was a charismatic, bright soul who was always smiling and making others smile. She always saw the brighter side even in the dark. Her laugh was infectious. She was extremely witty and silly, but she also had no problem speaking her mind if you upset her. She stood up for herself and the underdogs.
Selena was so much more than just a niece to me; she was like a daughter. She was more than a cousin; she was a sister. She was more than a friend; she was a protector. Selena was much more than life itself; she was truly an angel.
God wanted her closer, and we cannot fault him for that. We know she is in heaven with all of the family we lost, and for that, we find some peace.
Selena was cherished here on earth and up in heaven. Her memory will live forever in our hearts and never skip a beat.
