Help Family in War-torn City Affected by Ebola Outbreak

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Adria, and I’m organizing this fundraiser to support my friends Samuel Muderhwa and Faida Mutula in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Their region has been devastated by violence as armed rebels have fought the military and UN peacekeepers—causing thousands of deaths and millions of people to flee their homes.

Any donation—big or small—makes a real difference.

Samuel and Faida founded and lead the PCR Foundation, an organization that has long provided food, clothing, and assistance, and peace education, in communities caught in this conflict.

Earlier this year, they themselves were in danger, and many of you helped them and their children restabilize after they were forced to flee to Uganda and then return to the DRC.

Today, Samuel and Faida—and the PCR Foundation—are back at work: offering food, clothing, aid, care, and peace education to people impacted by the war.

The Ask: Please help them bring food, clothing, and hope to war-affected families this Christmas.

This season the need is urgent. The violence has intensified. Many refugee and IDP camps have been destroyed. There are more and more street children. Women are carrying their babies on their backs, walking long distances in search of food. For many families, even a single meal feels impossible.

Below is a message directly from Samuel and Faida:

"PCR Foundation usually organizes Christmas parties with vulnerable groups, sharing food and new clothes with them. We host what we call “Sharing Joy” celebrations with displaced people, refugees, widows, single mothers, and vulnerable children. The photos in the links below are from our past Christmas parties with widows and children.
These events are made possible through donations.

The needs in our area are now greater than ever. Because of widespread displacement and the continued presence of rebel groups, many refugee and IDP camps have been destroyed. The number of street children is increasing, and they urgently need food and clothing. Many women walk long distances with their children on their backs, begging for food because of the extremely difficult situation we face.

These images and these are from our past Christmas party held in South Kivu province, Kabare Territory, in Kalagane Village.

For this December 2025, if we are able to receive support, we hope to hold two “Sharing Joy” Christmas celebrations in two different villages to help widows and vulnerable children. This would mean so much in these very hard times.

What is needed is a small amount of food to share during the celebration, food packages for families to take home so they can prepare Christmas meals, and new clothes for vulnerable children to wear on Christmas Day. Here, children traditionally receive new clothes on Christmas, but vulnerable children often have none. This makes the holiday difficult for them. We hope to give them even the most affordable new clothes so they can feel joy like other children.

Thank you for your kindness and for all the ways you are helping us.
