Hi everyone. My name is Cathy West and I run a dog rescue called Kuddles & Kisses K9 Rescue.
We recently pulled a 4-year-old German Shepherd mix weighing about 55 lbs from a high-kill shelter in Rocky Mount, NC. She was to die at 8 a.m. on Saturday, February 7th from overcrowding in the shelter, but we pulled her Friday afternoon to save her.
Upon arrival at our rescue, she was examined by a vet and a heartworm test was done. This sweet girl is 3 to 4 weeks pregnant and was positive for heartworms, Lyme disease, and Ehrlichia.
She will be started on a low dose of doxycycline, which is safe for the pups until she delivers in about 5 or 6 weeks. Once she is done nursing the pups, she will need heartworm treatment, which is pretty costly and could extend up to $2,000.00. We need your help. This sweet girl didn't ask for any of this. Some careless owner discarded her like trash, and she was picked up by animal control, afraid for her life and her babies. Please help reach our goal of $1,800.00 to offset the cost of her medical treatment. Once her treatment is complete, she will be spayed so this sweet baby won't have to endure any more discomfort.
Please help us help her!!
