Aid for Peyton's Rare Thyroid Battle

Donation protected
My name is Staci Rogers (sund) and as any parents worst nightmare, my daughter peyton went to a what we hoped for would be a normal thyroid check up on may 30th, 2025 to have what we thought was a thyroid goiter checked. Her doctor requested an ultrasound be done and sent us to Helen Devos children's hospital the results were those we were not expecting, on June 13th they found a lobulated contour with disordered echogenicity and hypermia mass measuring 3.3 cm of the right thyroid lobe and predominantly solid, she was then referred to corwell health ENT for further testing and a biopsy.
On June 23rd we received the first part of those results she has a Follicular Neoplasm Bethesda Cat. 4 with 50% malignancy. And on July 10th just 3 days after her 16th birthday we received the second set of results, resulting in peyton being DICER1 p.e1705k positive. On July 10th she was diagnosed with follicular neoplasm arising from. A 3.3cm right thyroid nodule Afirma Genetic Testing revealed DICER1 mutation with 50% risk of malignancy, for an adolescent, those results are very rare. We discussed management options with the doctor and decided to go with a hemithyroidectomy to differentiate whether the lesion is a follicular adenoma or follicular carcinoma.
We discussed that introperatively aggressive findings of central compartment lymphadenapathy or gross extra capsular extention of the tumor may necessitate proceeding with a total thyroidectomy plus a central compartment neck disection.
The doctor intended to schedule peyton for an urgent surgery, but due to the lack of anesthesiologist that did not happen, which has delayed the surgery further than we would like.
Today July 21st I received a call from the scheduler and she told me the only open time slot they have for Helen Devos is September 9th, but peytons doctor felt that was to far away and has now referred her to University of michigan for any further treatment and surgery And as anyone knows, we're in for a long road ahead of us.
Im not one to ask for help, as a single mother I take pride in the satisfaction of knowing, that I do all that I can to support my children, even getting a second job or picking up any and all shifts that i can at my present long term job. But with the upcoming appointments and the time I will need off for work for peytons surgery and recovery and all the appointments to follow, financially I know will be a struggle. I hate the fact I have to set aside my pride to make a go fund me and ask people for help, but i would do anything for my first born, and my beautiful daughter! Any and all donations will solely be used for travel expenses to and from appointments, money for bills while i am off work, and all further appointments that she will have. I understand the current financial struggles that everyone has so If you can't donate, please say a prayer for peyton and our family, as this has been an extremely difficult couple months!!!
