An Orthodox Christian family is in crisis and needs our help! A mom and dad with four children who were both divorced before becoming Orthodox are being attacked by their former spouses. The Ex's, who live out of state, joined forces and successfully had the children taken away from the couple, separated from each other, and put into state group homes. This is a wonderful, well-integrated family who homeschool and are an integral part of the local parish community.
While enduring this horrible legal situation that has gone on for many months, the couple's car was totaled last week when a large deer ran out in front of their car while driving and destroyed the front of the car, the radiator, etc. Due to the cost of a family rights lawyer, and being on disability only income (the father is a disabled veteran), they had reduced their insurance to liability only and the even the buy-back price of their wrecked car is more than they can afford.
The parish is working hard to support them family but they need your help in order to buy a used car just to get to the grocery store and visit their kids in four different group home locations. All four children were originally with the wife's mother, who is a licensee foster care provider, but the Ex's convinced the court that the grandma was coaching the children in the child protective services case so they were removed from the grandma and separated.
I have personally worked with this couple, have previously testified in family law court, and have a contact who is a retired family law judge. This situation is truly horrific, emotionally and psychologically abusive, and now the parents cannot even make it to the once a week visits to their kids.
Please make a donation so that the couple can purchase a used car for the most basic and practical needs of a traumatized, low-income, veteran family.
Due to an ongoing lawsuit to get their children back, the names of the family cannot be posted publicly, and the photographs here are generic. Anyone who needs more information please contact me.
