Aid for Noelle's Family: Eaton Fire Devastation

My dear friend Noelle Lewis, her husband Adam, and their 7-year-old son Ace—like so many others—were forced to evacuate their home during the devastating Eaton Fire. While their house in Altadena, CA, is still standing, the fire caused extensive smoke and toxin damage, and the entire area has been deemed unsafe. They have no idea when—or if—they can return.

The fire came dangerously close to destroying their home. Flames reached their front yard, and if not for a neighbor’s quick action, their house would have burned down. Several homes behind and next to them burned to the ground. Across the street, almost everything is gone—block after block of homes and businesses reduced to ash. Over 10,000 structures were destroyed in Altadena alone, leaving the town unrecognizable.

Now displaced indefinitely, Noelle and Adam are working hard to navigate this new reality while searching for housing, dealing with insurance, testing and remediation, and many unknowns.

Adam & Noelle’s home office is inaccessible and their income has been disrupted.

Advocating for testing and remediation for asbestos and other contaminants has been a fight with insurance, will be costly, and is projected to take many months or years.

Noelle, Adam, and Ace are loving, hardworking people who have poured everything into their home and community. Now, they need help to start over. Every donation—no matter the size—will make a meaningful impact.

My name is Eva Burns, and I met Noelle while we were both living in Tacoma, WA almost a decade ago. She had dreams of moving her young family back to her favorite part of LA - Altadena. They have lived there for almost Ace's whole life. It's hard to know how to help a friend in a time like this when we live so far apart from one another. Fundraising seems like the least I can do.
