Aid for Neighbors Recovering from Fire Damage

Donation protected
On the evening of Friday, February 28th, 2025, an apartment in the B unit of our apartment building caught fire. While the fire was contained relatively quickly, an immense amount of damage was done, leaving many apartments uninhabitable, one neighbor with serious injuries, pets injured, and many neighbors displaced.

We know times are difficult and uncertain for many people right now, but we are asking for your help and support for our neighbors who are impacted by this unpredictable and life-altering event.

We are hoping to raise the funds to support our neighbors with money for living expenses, hotel fees, relocation fees, replacing destroyed and damaged house items, vet bills for injured pets, groceries/meals, and just as a way to help our neighbors recover from such an extremely traumatic event.

Andre lived next door to the apartment that caught fire, so as you can imagine, his apartment is destroyed and not habitable, with personal house items, walls, ceilings, and floors completely demolished. Cody lived in the apartment directly below the apartment that caught fire, and the water damage caused her ceiling to collapse, exposing insulation, thus damaging personal house items and being uninhabitable. Micah and Campbell lived on the floor above the apartment that caught fire, and the smoke and water caused severe damage to the ceiling, walls, and entire rooms of the apartment, making it uninhabitable. Emily lived in the next unit over, and her 2 fur babies are suffering from severe smoke damage, still in and out of the emergency vet, and her apartment and all of her belongings are covered in ash and soot, leaving her place not habitable. Christy, Jerome, and their 2 children live in the next unit over as well, and their apartment suffered serious smoke, soot, and ash damage, leaving them with a costly mess to clean up, as well as worrying about the smoke and ash effects on their children. Robert, who lived in the B unit below where the fire occurred, had severe water and smoke damage, and unfortunately, his cat Jazzy passed away due to smoke damage in her lungs. Robert was unaware the fire occurred until he got home around 4 hours after the fire, and his sweet kitty was transported to an emergency vet before she passed, so now he is left with emergency vet bills, on top of losing his apartment.

So far, only eight neighbors have shared their personal experiences and losses with this fire, but we know there are more who need our help, including the woman whose apartment caught fire. Unfortunately, we have no information or update on her health and/or recovery status at this time, as she just moved in this past month. We are working to get in touch so that we can add her to this list.

As previously mentioned, times are difficult for many right now, and especially for people like our neighbors who are now having to face the unimaginable- not having anywhere safe, comforting, supportive to come home to after many long, tiring, stressful days.
