Help Save Nani—Urgent Medical Care Needed for My Sweet Pup
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kiana, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for my beloved dog, Nani. She’s a 9-year-old chihuahua–Italian greyhound mix with the sweetest, silliest personality. I rescued her when I was just 18 years old, and she’s been my loyal, loving companion ever since. Despite being rescued from abuse and neglect, Nani is an incredibly gentle girl—great with kids, babies, cats, and other dogs—and she brings joy to everyone who meets her.
She’s always been my little sidekick—my road trip buddy, hiking partner, and cuddly couch companion. Nani has been there for all my biggest milestones and toughest moments, giving me comfort and laughter through it all. Her adventurous spirit and constant loyalty have been a guiding light in my life. She’s made my life so much better with her by my side, and I honestly can’t imagine doing any of it without her.
Two months ago, Nani was attacked by a much larger dog. She suffered four deep puncture wounds in her throat and had to undergo emergency surgery. Two drains were inserted to manage the swelling, and the total cost came to $1,300. I did everything I could to get her the care she needed then, but now we’re facing another crisis—and I’m out of options.
Recently, the same area of her throat has started to swell again—badly. There is a large, hard lump directly on her trachea, and her entire throat is visibly swollen. The vet suspects it could be a lingering infection from the bite, an abscess, or even cancer. They’ve recommended starting antibiotics and doing a biopsy as soon as possible to figure out exactly what’s going on. Depending on what the biopsy shows, the cost of treatment could be $1,000 or more. Right now, I simply can’t afford these next steps, but they’re crucial to give Nani a chance at recovery.
I’m terrified the swelling will keep getting worse and block her airway. I’m doing everything I can, but I just don’t have the money to save her on my own. Nani means the world to me. She deserves a chance to heal and live out her golden years happy and healthy—playing with her brother Peanut and sunbathing in the yard like she loves to do.
If you can spare anything—no matter how small—it will go directly toward her vet care and give her the fighting chance she needs. And if you’re unable to donate, sharing this page would mean the world to us.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading and for caring about Nani.
With love and gratitude,
Kiana & Nani
