Hi, my name is Maurice, or as some of you from my TikTok community know me, Mo. I am a husband and father to two beautiful children. My wife is chronically ill and bedridden because of her illness. As a caretaker and sole provider, a lot rides on my shoulders.

We currently live in a home that isn’t ours, but my in-laws’. They don’t own the entire home, as it was sold during foreclosure. Due to legality issues, the new owner doesn’t own the entire home, so until it’s resolved in court, we can occupy it for the moment.

Unfortunately, on 7-27-26, a tornado came through and lifted a tree up on top of the house, causing damage and leaving us without power until we can afford to have a mechanic fix the meter reader the power lines are attached to. Again, with this not being our home, we have no homeowners insurance or any resources to help us. The chimney got ruined and is falling off the house. There’s a hole in the roof, and with constant rain, it’s flooding in our attic and in the basement.

This has been so stressful, and I feel like our world is crashing. I’ve lost my car to repossession two years ago and have been able to use my company’s work truck in those two years. Unfortunately, with the tornado, it totaled my van, and I am without a vehicle until my company can find time to give me one.

We’ve been kicked off our health insurance, and now all visits and medications for my wife’s illness must come out of pocket. I’ve tried so hard to save, but no matter what, something comes up financially, leaving me stuck. I’ve got two jobs, and taking on a third might be the next option. But that worries me as a caretaker and a father, to be gone from my family constantly.

I’ve never been so scared and stressed in my life. As a husband, I’m trying my best to provide for my family. Winter is approaching soon, and the house will only continue to crumble, and we won’t have heat without a chimney being replaced, which will cost an insane amount of money. I know it’s a difficult time for everyone with a crippling economy. I just want to be able to put my family in a secure home where things aren’t breaking down. I can’t afford the constant repairs for a home I don’t own.

Thank you for any support or donations. Even if someone can help me with resources to help us, I’d be more than willing to accept. We’ve applied for government assistance plenty of times, but I make too much according to the guidelines, though it’s not reflective of how we are currently living. Thank you for your support, your love, and prayers.
