Aid for Mia's Final Farewell

Donation protected
Update: I just wanted to personally thank everyone for the donations, shares, thoughts, and prayers. Myles, Harley, and I are all very grateful, and I cannot put into words how thankful we are for each and everyone who has helped our family through prayer or donations. When I set up this GoFundMe, I could have never imagined us reaching our goal, let alone in just a few hours. I am going to keep the fundraiser up, and any leftover money will go towards the hospital bills once we receive them.
For those who don't know the full story, Mia was born with two collapsed lungs, and after trying every ventilator Cox Hospital had, they could not properly ventilate her lungs. After hours of trying, we were faced with the tough decision to either hold our daughter until she passed or try to fly her to St. Louis, though it was very unlikely she would survive the flight. We took our chances, and Mia fought the entire time and made it to St. Louis. There, she was placed on an ECMO machine that basically circulated the blood through her entire body and did all the breathing for her. After running several tests the first day, everything was looking good. She had no brain damage, which they were afraid of due to the prolonged lack of proper breathing; her heart (originally)and stomach came back great as well. Before I went to bed that night, I was told Mia has a very rare case that the hospital had never seen before. Her heart vessels are the smallest they have ever seen, and because of that, her lungs never developed properly, making it unlikely she would survive. The next morning, the doctor told us that there were only four other known cases, and the longest someone had survived was 13 days; she would not live long enough off the ECMO machine to prep her for a heart and lung transplant. After that, it was all about getting Harley discharged from the hospital so we could spend the next three days together as a family and make memories. While it was only 5 short days Mia was a fighter who never gave up.

We are Blake Adelman and Harley Fair, the heartbroken parents of Mia Charlene Adelman, who tragically passed away at just five days old on February 28, 2025, at Saint Louis Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Our precious Mia was born on February 23, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri. Though her time with us was devastatingly short, Mia's gentle presence deeply touched all who were near.

We are immensely grateful for the outpouring of support and love we have received during this unimaginable time. As we navigate this profound loss, we are now faced with the immediate need to arrange a respectful farewell for Mia. All funds raised here will be directly used to cover the funeral expenses. The funeral will be held at St. Columban Catholic Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, with details of the service shared below.

Service Details:

Mass of Christian Burial: March 12, 2025, at 10:00 AM, St. Columban Catholic Church, Chillicothe.
Parish Rosary and Visitation: March 11, 2025, starting at 6:00 PM, Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe.

From the depths of our hearts, thank you for any support you can provide during this time of profound sorrow. Your kindness and generosity are lights during these darkest hours.
