Imagine going to bed as you normally would, loving on your children and tucking them into bed. Only to awaken to the most horrific incident that could possibly be imagined and now your entire world is upside down. This is the reality for Mia and her family.
In the early morning hours of August 11, Mia and her fiancé were sleeping with their daughter Na’Ryah, when their home was the target of a drive-by shooting. Unfortunately, even after using her own body to shield them from bullets, sweet Na’Ryah was struck and passed away. Her fiancé was also struck, he was flown to shock trauma to receive care for his critical injuries. He remains in critical condition.
Na’Ryah was about to start kindergarten in a short couple of weeks. She was excited to go to school and make new friends. She has 3 siblings, Noah, Nash, and Na’Jah who are left wondering what happened to their sister and why she’s no longer with them. Holidays, birthdays, so many milestone celebrations will be missed because a life was cut entirely too short due to a senseless act of violence.
Mia is a hard-working mother who has just experienced one of the most horrific things anyone could ever imagine happening to them. She is not only grieving the loss of her child, she’s also terrified she may lose her significant other, the children’s father, as well. No person should ever have to endure the pure fear it must’ve been to know bullets are flying about your home and the only thought in your mind is to protect your child who is laid beside you. Mia, we are so sorry you had to go through this. The last thing she should have to worry about is how she is going to afford her child’s funeral. She shouldn’t have to worry about going back to work to provide for her other children, as she is now a one income household. Her primary focus should be providing comfort and support to the children through this difficult time of their healing process. Jumping right back into work is not ideal. Any amount that you could see fit to donate, even if a dollar, helps this momma stay home to provide love and safety to very distraught children who just want their sister back.
Funeral arrangements are going to be made through Henry Funeral Home by Zhaden T. Myster P.A. A meal train will also be started for the family. Please check Mia’s Facebook page or back to this gofundme for updates on funeral arrangements and the meal train link.
