On Boxing Day, after a wonderful Christmas spent with family, Marcus a Kettering local, suffered a devastating accident. In the early hours of the morning, he fell down the stairs while getting up to use the bathroom. He was found at the bottom of the staircase with a severe head injury after striking the corner of the skirting board.
Six paramedics were needed to safely move him to the ambulance before he was taken to Kettering General A&E. After an initial assessment and brain scan, Marcus was blue‑lighted to Coventry Hospital, which specialises in head trauma and neurosurgery. The journey there was terrifying for Lisa and Marcus — not knowing what they were heading into, and still not having all the answers.
Scans revealed a fractured skull and a bleed on the left side of his brain. Marcus became extremely agitated and his vital signs worsened, so he had to be sedated and intubated. He now has an Intracranial Pressure (ICP) bolt fitted to monitor swelling and pressure inside his skull. He will remain sedated for at least 72 hours and is being monitored around the clock.
This accident has turned the family’s world upside down.
Marcus is the main provider for his household — the one who “does everything for everyone else,” as his stepdaughter Jess says. With him unable to work and facing a long, slow recovery, the financial strain is already beginning to build. Lisa does not drive and needs help with transport to and from the hospital, and the family is doing everything they can to support her and be by Marcus’s side.
We are asking for help to ease the financial pressure during this incredibly difficult time. Any donation, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference.
I am raising funds for both Marcus & Lisa Stewart my brother and sister in law to ensure
1. We can maintain a bedside vigil and the donations will be partly used for transport from Kettering to Coventry hospital as Lisa does not drive.
2. Marcus is the main provider of income, Lisa will need financial support for household bills whilst Marcus is incapacitated and will only receive basic SSP.
3. All money raised surplus will absolutely go to the long road of rehabilitation ahead of Marcus which is very much unknown.
It will allow Marcus’ Wife Lisa Stewart and the family to breath and focus on what truly matters: supporting Marcus through the long road ahead, without the added fear of falling behind on bills or struggling with basic costs.
This was a sudden, heartbreaking accident that no one could have prepared for — especially after the joy of Christmas celebrations. Your kindness, generosity, and support will mean the world to this family as they navigate the uncertain days ahead.
Thank you sincerely from all the family, my name is Donna Dinley and and this is my brother Marcus Stewart.
