My name is Madison Haynes. I’m 21 years old and am currently the sole provider for my family with my part-time job in retail. My dad was diagnosed with Large Diffuse B-Cell non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2022. My parents were both insured under Medicaid, but in July, they lost their coverage. My dad had to stop getting his cancer treatments and they now have to pay for their doctor’s appointments and medications out of pocket. Their doctor’s appointments alone cost $100 each, and their medications cost around $450 every month. Due to my parents' medical conditions, they are unable to work, and with the new costs of their medical care, our power bill went unpaid for the past three months. The bill is now $2,500, and our power company has been unwilling to work with us despite my dad’s medical condition and the harsh winter weather in SC right now. We’ve tried different government programs and non-profits, but we unfortunately have not qualified for any of them. We have been living without power for five weeks, trying to come up with the money needed with little luck. All the money that is made has had to go to propane, gas for our generator, and gas for our car so I can get back and forth to work. I know times are tough for everyone right now, but anything you can donate, or just sharing this GoFundMe, would mean the absolute world to me and my family. Thank you.
Update: I would like to wish a MASSIVE THANK YOU from our family to EVERYONE that either shared or donated! Words do not express the gratitude we feel and have felt from the generosity and caring of so many wonderful people! Thank you again, from the bottom of our hearts. We still have to pay the remaining balance of the bill along with our security deposit and normal monthly power bill, so I’ve updated the goal amount to include that payment. Again thank you so much to everyone who has helped us, we appreciate it more than words can say.
