I am the sister of Calvin Hutchings, who passed away from cancer on April 13, 2025. He was hospitalized in March from an apparent stroke at Houston Methodist Hospital. The stroke was possibly caused by the cancer or a possible car accident coming from MD Anderson. He was transferred to MD Anderson by his wife, Luci Hutchings. He had been hospitalized at MD Anderson until his passing, where we learned the cancer spread to his brain, bloodstream, and organs. Prior to his hospitalization, he was disabled, and he and his wife were caregivers for their son. The medical bills accumulated, and he had no insurance for burial.

This is a hard time for his wife, whose dad has just passed within the year, and they were caregivers to him until the end also. My brother loved plants and people. This is really unexpected that the cancer came back with a vengeance. This fundraiser is for his burial and to help his children and wife. He has a son, Calvin Jr., graduating from East Chambers high school in Winnie, Texas and also at Lamar University in May 2025. He fought hard in pain to make it. He also has an older son, Darius, who is autistic and at a loss without his dad. His wife and children will be ever so grateful for what you can give or support.
