We recently adopted Lily Ann, a gentle and loving 8-year-old miniature dachshund. We brought her into our home to give her a safe, peaceful life in her senior years — but almost immediately, we realized something was wrong.
After a wellness check, we learned that Lily Ann is suffering from severe, advanced dental disease. Her gums are receding, her teeth are coated with plaque, and she’s likely been living with chronic pain for a long time. The only way to help her is through emergency dental surgery, including extractions under anesthesia.
The procedure is scheduled for May 20, and the vet estimates it will cost between $2,000 and $3,000, depending on how many teeth need to be removed.
We were never told about her condition before adoption, and the timing has been difficult. I work full-time in public service as a federal employee, and while we manage our budget carefully, this is a sudden and significant expense we weren’t prepared for. We’re doing everything we can — but we also know that Lily Ann deserves to live without pain.
If you’re able to help, even a little, it would mean the world to us. Every dollar raised will go directly toward Lily Ann’s veterinary care, medication, and recovery.
Thank you for helping give her a second chance — pain-free, safe, and deeply loved.
With gratitude,
Sam & Kristiana
