Hello, my name Stephanie and I am the Aunt to this resilient beautiful 2 year old little girl, Lilianna. Lili was born a premie and with a hole in her heart. Doctors were optimistic that the hole would close on its own because it is common. However, a few months ago my sister and brother in law were told the heart wrenching news that not only did the hole not close, it got bigger and she will need surgery to close it. They brought her to the hospital on March 18th for them to try going a less invasive way, through her groin to avoid open heart surgery. Sadly, the hole was too big and they had to book a surgery date for open heart surgery at just 2 years young. My family was devastated and scared. About a month later my sister and BIL got the call that they will have a surgery date of May 7th. Surgery went well and they even took her drains out after only a couple short days, then she was discharged on Mother’s Day. My poor sister had a mental break down and could not work as the stress and heartache of having to leave her was too much. They went for a follow up appointment yesterday where they were hit with even more devastating news. My poor niece had a dangerous amount of fluid around her heart from her surgery. Fluid is normal but because of how much the doctors informed my sister that if they waited longer than it could have been a different outcome. Sadly my nephew was there and just broke down in tears and thought his baby sister was going to die. He is autistic with other disabilities and couldn’t understand that she would be ok now with the drs help. Now her 3 brothers are worried sick about her. My baby niece was rushed by ambulance straight to the hospital. Leaving my BIL no choice but to take off of work again. The plan was to airlift her to the children’s hospital but they live in North Carolina and the weather was bad, it was decided the ambulance would have to take the 3.5 hour drive there, as she had to be medically transported to chapel hill. Right now the plan the doctors put in place is to do IV steroids therapy to minimize the fluid around her heart. If that shows no improvement they will have to reinsert the drains and drain it all out, putting her under again. They are taking it day by day right now. Sadly, my BIL just started working at his job and does not have paid time off and they are desperate to be with their daughter until they know she is back to her happy little self. Anything could help right now. I am working on going there but they cannot afford their bills right now due to these unforeseen circumstances. If you could please help in anyway, even if it’s a share or a prayer, you will not be overlooked. They need all the help they could get right now and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Bless you
