Aid for Lebanon by siblings Ax and Amaritta
Hello friends and family. My sister Amaritta and I are shaken by the devastation that has occurred with the explosion in Beirut, Lebanon, the "Beirut Blast." We are so grateful that our family there was not close enough to the explosion - they are safe. Our hearts and souls are hurting for those impacted by the Blast.
This explosion has killed over 100 people and has injured more than 4,000. The blast level is similar to what happened in Hiroshima, Japan. Many of those who were closest to the explosion are part of the poverty belt of Beirut. There is desperate need for Financial Aid to be sent to organizations providing direct mutual aid to the people there. Before the explosion Lebanon was already in crisis with 1. famish threatening many, 2. food prices rising and inaccessible, 3. Lebanese currency is falling under one of the highest rates of inflation in the world, 4. unsafe and insecure housing and many houseless people 5. migrant domestic workers losing employment, housing, and access to documentation. In the current crisis, many lost the little housing they had. This is compiled with hospitals closing or being not operational in the midst of a global pandemic.
