TEACHER IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE.
Sean Wynn here on behalf of his sis/friend, Landie.
Here is what happened: what happened
Landie relocated to the Bay Area, California, to pursue her Master's Degree in Education. She was advised that she would be supported by financial aid and a living stipend. Due to miscommunications with the school, she did not meet the requirements for receiving her certification by the cut-off date, Dec 3rd 2024, but DID by Jan 3rd 2025.
Because of this, she was asked to take a leave of absence, interrupting her access to her living stipend and financial aid supports.
Currently, she is working as a Substitute Teacher in the Juvenile Justice Center, helping incarcerated youth complete high school requirements. She is severely underpaid (paid once a month) and has found herself unable to pay monthly bills. This was information that was vaguely explained upon hiring.
Additionally, as a municipal employee, she was encouraged to contribute to deferred compensation under the guise that it was optional and that she could opt out at any time.
However, she was later informed that enrollment was mandatory and the only way to opt out was to resign from her position. Because this contribution to deferred compensation is approximately 1/3 of her net pay, and now that her savings have been depleted, she is asking for your help.
Also, she has been looking for a 2nd job and/or a better 1st position to no avail… so far.
