I am reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your support for my sister, Mayra Rivera, and her family, as they face an unthinkable hardship.

Recently, there was a shooting in Carpentersville, and tragically, Julian was caught in the crossfire. He was not the intended target—he was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Many of us have watched Julian grow into the kind, respectful, and talented young man he is today. He is playful (like his dad Dario), sweet, and an incredible soccer player who lights up every room with his smile.

Julian was shot multiple times. One of the bullets struck his arm, damaging his nerves and leaving him without movement in that arm. He now faces a difficult road to recovery that will include therapy and ongoing medical care. During this time, Mayra will be stepping away from work so she can be by his side and help him heal.

This fundraiser is to help relieve the financial burden of medical expenses, lost income, and the many unexpected costs that come with such a traumatic event. Any amount, big or small, will make a difference and bring hope to their family during this heartbreaking time.
