You can't talk about the Akron and NEOH Blues Scene without Jimmy Kormanik coming up. Jimmy is one of the area's most renowned harmonica players and has been a fixture of the local music community for the past 50 years. But where did Jimmy go? Why haven't we seen him? The answer is tragic - liver cancer. A stage 4 liver cancer that is now not responding to chemo and immunotherapy.

Jimmy's biggest stress though isn't his own problems. It's maintaining a stable level of care for his adopted 5-year-old son, Tommy (his biological grandson), that includes activities such as music and swimming.

This GoFundMe has a dual purpose of providing for Jimmy and Tommy. We're calling all Musicians, Blues and other Live Music Fans, NEOH Residents, and overall general Good Samaritans to help.

For Jimmy, we're looking to help with his mortgage, utility bills, groceries, health insurance, etc. The regular cost of living items.

For Tommy, we're looking to set up a 5-year-old with the things he needs to have a robust and secure childhood, where he can keep doing the activities he loves.

Throughout the last several decades, Jimmy made his living as both a commercial roofer and a musician. About 7-8 years ago, he fell off a roof and went on disability (which is now social security). Even though Jimmy was physically unable to get back on a roof, he was able to carry his harmonicas to a gig and pull in the dough for him and Tommy to get by. But not now. He has sadly given up gigging because of his health issues.

So now Jimmy is a single dad raising a 5-year-old on social security alone. That's where we all come in. Please join our Jimmy and Tommy Care Team! Our initial goal is $15,000.
