As many of you know tragedy struck our local hospital in York PA this past Saturday February 22, 2025. Multiple staff members were zip tied and held hostage as a gunman entered UPMC memorials ICU and shot multiple people. Officer Andrew Duarte unfortunately lost his life during a shootout.

This event has been extremely traumatic for everyone involved. However now staff members are forced to jump through hoops to figure out how they are going to manage to take time off as they try and heal from this tragedy.

As a nurse I am incredibly sickened by this event. No one should ever have to worry about their safety when going to work. Healthcare workers give their hearts and everything they have day in and day out to care for other people. It’s just expected of us to do it with a smile and no complaints, However there is little support offered for us when we need the care.

I would like to start a fundraiser for the ICU staff that was involved in this tragedy. I pray that any funds raised can help give them and their families time to heal. ALL funds will be distributed evenly to the ICU personnel involved in this incident.
