December 25th, 2024, our sweet Heidi started with an innocent cough and congestion. Overnight, she began to get worse, and thinking that it was a viral issue, she went to our local urgent care for treatment. A few days later and no better, Heidi's husband, Matthew, rushed her to the emergency room. Heidi was sicker than anyone realized. She was immediately life-flighted to Mobile Infirmary, where she was admitted to MICU. She has been on a ventilator in a medically induced coma since December 31st.

Heidi has been a stay-at-home mom who has devoted her days to taking care of her children and husband. Matthew is a boat pilot and has recently started a new position with the Army Corps of Engineers. Matthew usually works away from home during the week and is home on weekends, but is unable to work while Heidi is in critical condition. Matthew and Heidi need to focus on Heidi's health and recuperation, but as we all know, our financial responsibilities know no excuses and wait for no one. While Matthew is off work, he has growing expenses not only from staying in Mobile to be near Heidi but also paying the monthly premium to keep their health insurance.
