Aid for Gus Fring's Brothers after his passing.

Gus and his brothers, Walter and Jesse, are a trio of dumbo rat brothers who I had the absolute pleasure of adopting from an animal rescue. They all have the most amazing personalities, with Gus loving to cuddle, play with his brothers, and tear apart anything that I give to him within seconds. He has spent the last few weeks recovering from his wound with a lot of time spent napping in my lap and getting a lot of pets and love.

In October this year, he began to develop a small abscess which quickly became larger, and despite antibiotics and pain medication, it hasn't made progress in healing and seems like it's only been getting bigger with time. This has led to him experiencing a lot of pain, as well as needing to be separated from his brothers in order to prevent them from licking the wound, and even impacting his ability to move as the mass gets in the way. Despite this he has been an absolute trooper and will still run around, climb and play.

I was told by the vet that the most recommended course of action is surgery to have it removed. Due to its size, this cost is estimated to be around $660-$1,110. Unfortunately, my mom and I have been dealing with a lot of bad luck and financial issues which have significantly impacted our ability to afford his treatment.

I sincerely thank anybody who gives anything to help me afford this operation. Any additional money I receive from this fundraiser that goes above the cost of his surgery will go to food, toys, and more for Gus and his brothers to ensure they have the best lives I can give them. I cannot emphasize enough how much this means to me. My rats have been my best friends through the ups and downs I've experienced this year. All I would ever ask for Christmas this year is for him to get better.

UPDATE 12/7/24:

Thank you so much to everybody who gave their support for Gus in getting his operation. It hurts me so much to announce that he has passed away. I didn't know today would be his last day. I knew he was hurting, but inside i had hope he would make it in time to have the tumor removed. When I took him out of his cage this morning he immediately snuggled with me. for the entire day he rested on me; just a few minutes ago he passed on snuggled in my soft blanket and the hat i used to pick him up with.

All of the money raised for him will go toward toys, supplies, food and treats for his brothers to help them during their grieving. Gus was always protective and loyal to his brothers. I remember watching him fill up the food dish treat by treat as i handed them to him. Running back for more, he loved to grab as many as he could at a time and run over to dump them in the bowl. He always made sure to share with his brothers, and to protect them.

Now i only hope that i was able to give to him the best life ever before his passing, and i will be making sure his brothers have the best ones too, because thats what he would have wanted for them. Gus was an amazing rat as well as a best friend. He will always live in my heart as the silly little guy who loved to build forts out of whatever he could find and would always get into mischief late at night, rearranging the cage and tearing things apart.
