Help my grandma recover for this horrendous injury

Donation protected

On March 24, 2025, my beloved grandmother, the heart of our family, suffered two brain bleeds, leading to a month-long hospitalization that shattered our world. Just a day before, she joyfully baked me a birthday cake and sang "Happy Birthday" with my nine-year-old daughter, Rowan. That sweet memory is now one of the few my daughter has with her great-grandmother, and it breaks my heart to reflect on how quickly everything has changed.

At 84, after two emergency surgeries, my grandmother is lost to us—confused and unable to speak clearly. She cannot walk and relies on assistance for the simplest tasks. Her vision is blurred, and she struggles to recognize faces, feeling utterly isolated in a world that once brought her so much joy. Known for her kindness and her ability to speak her mind, she had a sweetness about her that endeared her to everyone. She lives on Social Security, and without Medicaid, her Medicare coverage has denied her essential care due to behavioral issues stemming from the traumatic brain surgeries she endured.

As her sole caregiver, I am overwhelmed. Living 25 to 50 miles away from family, I work as a pipe fitter millwright while also caring for my 62-year-old aunt with a mental handicap. The weight of these responsibilities is crushing, and I feel stretched too thin as the bills continue to pile up.

We are creating a GoFundMe page to raise funds for my grandmother’s medical bills and essential home supplies, like medical beds and lifts that will help us care for her when she comes home. It’s a daunting task, but I am committed to providing her with the comfort and support she needs to regain her independence.

Every day is a struggle, but we cling to the hope of seeing her sweet smile again. We cherish the fleeting moments of clarity, and our hearts ache for the vibrant woman she once was. As we look back on that joyful day of baking, I am determined to help both Rowan and her great-grandmother create more precious memories together. We truly need your help to make this possible.
